Colors of the wind

Well, this one takes me only two weeks! a record for me hahaha . I've enjoyed drawing the background and the "wind", I really like how it's gone.

Pocahontas, a native indian princess from Virginia, daughter of Chief Powhatan. She is strong, noble, free-spirited and independent; her best friends are Meeko and Flit. She also has a kind of spirit adviser, a sentient weeping willow tree named Grandmother Willow who will teach Pocahontas to listen the spirits of the earth.

The arrive of settlers makes a change in Pocahontas' life when she meets John Smith. Over time, they get to know each other and fall in love.

But when a terrible incident happens Pocahontas sees how her love is taken prisoner by the Powhatan men, an sentenced to die at sunrise. The young woman knows the right path may not always be the easiest, and realizes that she must stop the execution that will lead to war between Native Americans and European settlers. Finally she reaches John Smith just in time to save him from being killed by her father, that comes to his senses an releases the white man. But the evil Ratcliffe shoots the chief and is John who takes the bullet.

The end of this story is bittersweet, John Smith has to go back to England because of his wound. Though he asks Pocahontas to go with him, she explains that her place is in Virginia with her people.

"No matter what happens, I'll always be with you, forever" she says to him.

As the ship is leaving, Pocahontas runs to a cliff overlooking the ocean and says goodbye to John.
